There are two layout versions, or "skins" for this fanlisting. Initially, I had started with a naturally darker layout to convey the darkness and depth of Cohen’s work, but then I thought a lighter, more naked side of Cohen and his music should also be exposed - hence the second, brighter layout.

 Skin #1 is the darker layout, featuring the lyric "I told you when I came, I was a stranger" from "The Stranger Song" - a song from Songs of Leonard Cohen (1967), and the first Cohen song I was exposed to. I still think this song is such an eloquent way of describing the secrecy, clarity and daring isolation of Cohen’s work. |
 Skin #2 is the lighter layout, featuring the lyric "we pressed against the limits of the sea" from "A Thousand Kisses Deep", a song from Ten New Songs (2001). The main header graphic is a cut-out collage from New Skin For The Old Ceremony (1974). I love how openly intertwined the lovers are, clinging onto their sexuality in the waves. |
